SaaS SEO Consultancy

Looking for a SaaS SEO consultant who has actually owned the pipeline number? Adrian Dąbrowiecki spent four years as Head of Marketing and SEO at Landingi, Placester and Testportal before founding Marketer Coffee. Today he and our team of experienced specialists work with software marketing teams as strategists, reviewers and sparring partners: comparison and alternative pages, programmatic SEO, pricing and free-tool pages, docs, and visibility in ChatGPT and AI Overviews. Your team ships; we make sure the roadmap moves MRR, not just sessions. We focus on international expansion: we advise SaaS and B2B software companies winning the US, UK and European markets.

Why SaaS teams hire a SaaS SEO consultant instead of a generic agency

Software companies have a different SEO economics from e-commerce or local businesses: long sales cycles, free trials, a small set of high-intent keywords worth thousands per month, and competitors who publish faster than you. A consultant who has run SaaS marketing from the inside reads your numbers differently.

Strategy tied to MRR, CAC and payback

We model what a top-3 ranking on ‘best [category] software’ or ‘[competitor] alternative’ is worth in trials, demos and closed-won revenue, and prioritise the roadmap on that, not on traffic. Reporting shows signups and pipeline by landing page, so SEO sits next to paid in the board deck.

AI search as a SaaS acquisition channel

Buyers ask ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity ‘what is the best tool for X’ before they ever see a SERP. I audit how your product is described, which sources the models cite for your category, and build the content, comparison data and third-party mentions that get you recommended.

Someone who has sat in your seat

I have defended an SEO budget to a SaaS board, argued with product for sprint capacity, and been judged on signups rather than rankings. That means advice that fits a real product team, not a wish list from an agency deck.

Comfortable with your stack

Next.js, React, Webflow, HubSpot, Gatsby, headless CMSes, app subdomains, docs on a separate platform: I review the architecture decisions that quietly cost SaaS sites rankings, and write tickets your engineers can actually act on.

What SaaS SEO consulting covers

Each engagement is scoped to your stage and go-to-market motion. These are the areas where a senior outside view usually changes the plan.

01

PLG vs. sales-led keyword strategy

A product-led company needs volume at the bottom of the funnel: templates, free tools, ‘how to’ content that ends in a signup. A sales-led company needs fewer, bigger keywords and content that qualifies enterprise buyers. I map your keyword universe to your motion and your ACV, and cut the topics that would never convert.

02

Comparison, alternative and integration pages

‘[Competitor] vs [you]’, ‘[Competitor] alternatives’, ‘[Tool] integration’: the highest-intent pages a SaaS can own. I design the page templates, the data model behind them, the tone that survives legal review and the internal linking that makes them rank, then review your team’s first drafts.

03

Programmatic SEO done safely

Use-case pages, template libraries, integration directories and glossary hubs can add thousands of indexable pages. Done badly they create thin content and crawl waste. I define the templates, the unique-content thresholds, the indexation rules and the quality gates before engineering builds anything.

04

Pricing, free-tool and landing page SEO

Your pricing page is often your most-linked, highest-intent page and your least optimised one. I review pricing, free-tool and feature pages for search intent, schema, conversion and AI readability, and show how free tools can become a durable link and signup engine.

05

Docs, help centre and community SEO

Documentation and help content often outrank marketing pages for long-tail product queries. I decide what should be indexed, how docs link back to product pages, how to handle versioned URLs and whether your help centre platform is helping or hurting.

06

Measurement: signups, pipeline and AI referrals

GA4 and Search Console set up around trials, demos and activation, plus tracking of referrals from ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Copilot. A Looker Studio view that your CFO and your content lead can both read. See the execution side on our SaaS SEO services page.

Who this is for

SaaS SEO consultancy works best when there is already someone to execute, and the gap is senior judgement, prioritisation and experience.

Seed to Series B SaaS with a small marketing team

You have one or two marketers and a founder who cares about organic. You need a 12-month SEO plan that fits a small team, a decision on build vs. hire vs. agency, and a monthly check that you are still on track.

Scale-ups with an in-house SEO or content team

Your team is capable but stretched. You want a fractional Head of SEO who sets direction, reviews work, handles the technical conversations with engineering and reports to leadership, one or two days a week.

Marketing leaders who inherited an agency

You are not sure whether your agency’s monthly report reflects progress. I review their strategy, content and links against your pipeline data and tell you what to keep, change or stop, in plain language.

Investors and acquirers in B2B software

SEO due diligence for SaaS deals: how durable the organic traffic is, how much depends on branded search, how exposed the site is to algorithm or AI-search shifts, and what the realistic organic upside is post-acquisition.

How a SaaS SEO consulting engagement runs

Whether you start with a one-off strategy or a fractional role, the first six weeks follow the same path.

01

Discovery call and data access

A free 30-minute call about your product, ICP, pricing motion and growth targets. Then read access to Search Console, GA4, your CRM or product analytics and your CMS so recommendations are built on your numbers, not assumptions.

02

SaaS SEO audit and competitive map

Technical audit of the marketing site, app subdomain and docs; content inventory by funnel stage; comparison of your share of voice against the three to five competitors buyers actually shortlist; AI search visibility audit for your category.

03

Strategy and 12-month roadmap

A written strategy: which keyword clusters to own, which page types to build, what to deindex, how to handle programmatic pages, and how to win AI citations. A quarterly roadmap with owners, effort and expected pipeline impact.

04

Workshop with marketing, product and engineering

A half-day session to walk through findings, align on priorities and agree the engineering tickets, content briefs and templates for the first quarter.

05

Advisory rhythm

Monthly or bi-weekly strategy calls, Slack access for questions, review of briefs, drafts, comparison pages and dev tickets before they ship, and a monthly commentary on signups and pipeline from organic.

06

Quarterly review

What moved, what did not and why. Roadmap re-planned, hiring or agency decisions revisited, and if your team has outgrown the need for a consultant, we say so.

SaaS SEO problems I see in almost every audit

Patterns from software companies between $1M and $50M ARR, and how I advise teams to handle them.

Blog volume without bottom-of-funnel coverage

Many SaaS teams publish 8 to 12 top-of-funnel articles a month and still have no page for ‘[competitor] alternatives’ or ‘best [category] software for [segment]’. The articles bring sessions; the missing pages would bring demos. The fix is rarely more content. It is a smaller, sharper content map where every cluster ends in a page with a trial or demo CTA, plus retiring or merging the posts that never converted.

Marketing site, app and docs fighting each other

app.yourproduct.com, docs.yourproduct.com and the marketing site are often run by three teams on three platforms. Login pages get indexed, docs outrank feature pages for commercial queries, and internal links between them are an afterthought. I define one indexation policy and one linking model across all three, and write the tickets for each team.

Programmatic pages that became a liability

Template libraries and integration directories launched with 2,000 pages and 40 words of unique copy each. Google indexes a fraction, the rest waste crawl budget and dilute the site. The advice is usually to consolidate to the pages with demand, add genuinely unique data, and set clear noindex and canonical rules for the rest, before adding anything new.

No presence in AI answers for your own category

Ask ChatGPT or Perplexity for the best tool in your category and five competitors appear, with sources you have never heard of. Getting cited requires clear entity data about your product, consistent descriptions across your site, G2, Capterra and partner pages, structured comparison content and mentions in the publications the models trust. It is a distinct workstream, and it compounds, so it belongs on every SaaS roadmap now, not later.

Migrations and redesigns that lose a year of growth

A move to a new framework or CMS, a rebrand, or a URL restructure can cut organic signups by 30 to 50% if canonicals, redirects, rendering and internal links are not planned. I review migration plans before launch and monitor the weeks after. It is the single highest-value hour a consultant can bill.

Engagement models for SaaS teams

Most SaaS clients start with a strategy project and continue on a retainer or fractional basis. Hourly consulting is available for one-off questions, migration reviews and second opinions.

SaaS SEO consulting: frequently asked questions

The questions SaaS founders and marketing leaders ask before working with me. More on the general model on the SEO consultancy page.

What does a SaaS SEO consultant do that an agency does not?

A consultant sets strategy, reviews work and advises; your team executes. For SaaS that means deciding which comparison, use-case and programmatic pages to build, how to tie SEO to signups and pipeline, and how to handle the technical questions with engineering. You get senior time only, without paying for volume you may not need.

How much does SaaS SEO consulting cost?

Hourly consulting is $100–150 per hour with a 5-hour minimum. Advisory retainers start around 8 hours per month; fractional Head of SEO roles start at one day per week. Audits, strategies and due diligence are fixed-fee projects quoted after the free call.

How long until SaaS SEO shows results in signups?

Technical fixes and bottom-of-funnel pages typically show in Search Console within 4 to 8 weeks. Measurable movement in trials or demos usually appears in months 3 to 6, depending on domain authority and competition. Programmatic and AI visibility work compounds from month 6 onwards.

Do you work with B2B SaaS, PLG and enterprise sales motions?

Yes. The strategy differs by motion: PLG needs volume and free-tool or template pages that end in signup; enterprise sales needs fewer, higher-ACV keywords and content that qualifies buyers. My in-house experience covers both, from a landing page builder with a free plan to real estate software sold to brokerages.

Can you work with our existing agency or freelancers?

Yes, and it is common. I review their strategy and output against your pipeline data, join the monthly call and help you set better briefs and KPIs. Good partners welcome a second opinion.

Do you also cover AI search visibility for SaaS?

Yes, it is part of every SaaS roadmap I write. I audit how ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and AI Overviews describe your category and your product, and build a plan to become a cited source. See also our AI SEO service.
