WooCommerce SEO for ChatGPT shopping

ChatGPT builds shopping answers from product feeds, structured data and reviews. We make your WooCommerce data the one it trusts, shows first and cites.

Why WooCommerce stores need a platform-specialist SEO agency

WooCommerce powers roughly a third of all online stores and gives you full control over your code. That freedom is exactly why most WooCommerce sites leak rankings: plugins, themes and default archives create problems a generic agency never sees.

Index bloat from default archives

Out of the box WooCommerce indexes product tags, attribute archives (pa_color, pa_size), shop pagination, /feed/ URLs, author pages and ?orderby= sorting variants. A 500-product store can expose 20,000 crawlable URLs. We decide, URL type by URL type, what gets indexed, canonicalised or blocked.

Speed killed by plugins and themes

Thirty active plugins, a page builder, three slider libraries and an unoptimised hosting stack: that is how a product page ends up with 4-second LCP. We fix Core Web Vitals at the root: PHP 8.x, object caching, critical CSS, WebP/AVIF, lazy loading done right and removing the scripts that nobody needs.

Faceted navigation that eats crawl budget

Filter plugins (FacetWP, WOOF, JetSmartFilters) generate thousands of parameter URLs. Googlebot wastes its budget on them while your new products wait weeks to be indexed. We configure canonicals, robots rules and internal links so only the filter combinations with search demand become indexable landing pages.

Thin, duplicate product and category content

Manufacturer descriptions copied across hundreds of stores, empty category pages, variations that compete with their parent product. We write category copy that ranks and converts, consolidate duplicates and structure variable products so Google shows the right price and availability.

Schema that does not earn rich results

Rank Math and Yoast emit basic Product markup, but missing Offer, AggregateRating, shippingDetails or merchantReturnPolicy fields mean no stars, no price, no stock label in the SERP. We extend the markup at code level and validate it in Search Console’s Merchant listings report.

Multilingual and multi-currency chaos

WPML, Polylang or TranslatePress plus a currency switcher can produce wrong hreflang, duplicated carts and indexed ?currency= URLs. We set up hreflang, canonicals and currency handling so each market ranks on its own domain path, as we do for stores selling across the US, UK and EU.

What our WooCommerce SEO services include

A complete programme for a WooCommerce store, from the WordPress stack to content, links and AI search. You choose the scope; every engagement starts with the audit.

01

Technical WooCommerce audit

Full crawl with Screaming Frog and Search Console data: indexation, canonicals, pagination, attribute and tag archives, redirects, Core Web Vitals, hosting, plugin conflicts and theme-level issues. Delivered as a prioritised plan with effort and impact for each fix.

02

Store architecture and category strategy

Category and subcategory tree built on how customers search, not on your ERP structure. Deciding which attributes and filters deserve their own landing pages, flattening unnecessary depth and fixing the /product-category/ and /product/ base slugs where it makes business sense.

03

On-page and product content

Category descriptions, product titles, unique product copy, FAQ blocks and buying guides. Templates for titles and meta descriptions in Rank Math or Yoast using variables, so thousands of pages get correct tags without manual work. See our SEO content writing.

04

Speed and Core Web Vitals

Hosting review (Kinsta, WP Engine, Cloudways, SiteGround or a VPS), caching layers, image optimisation, script deferral, database cleanup and removing redundant plugins. We implement changes in the theme or a custom plugin, not just recommend them.

05

Structured data and merchant listings

Product, Offer, AggregateRating, Review, BreadcrumbList, FAQ and Organization markup; alignment between schema and your Google Merchant Center feed so your products are eligible for free listings and rich results.

06

Link building and digital PR

Links from niche publications, product round-ups, supplier and partner pages and data-driven PR stories. Quality criteria first: relevance, real traffic and editorial placement. See link building.

How we work with WooCommerce stores

Six stages we repeat on every WooCommerce project. You get the audit and the 90-day plan free, whether or not you hire us.

01

Audit and crawl

We crawl the store, pull 16 months of Search Console data and read the theme and plugin stack. Result: a list of what is blocking growth and the three biggest revenue opportunities.

02

Keyword and category mapping

We map search demand to your catalogue: which categories, attributes and filter combinations deserve landing pages, which should be noindexed, and what content gaps your competitors already fill.

03

Technical fixes

Indexation rules, canonicals, pagination, redirects, hreflang, schema and speed. Implemented by us in a staging environment, tested, then deployed with your developer or hosting team.

04

Content for categories and products

Category copy, product descriptions, buying guides and comparison articles written for shoppers. Titles and metas templated for scale, then refined manually for your top 100 pages.

05

Authority building

Digital PR, product features, niche editorial links and brand mentions that also feed AI assistants. Natural velocity, no link schemes.

06

Measurement and iteration

Monthly report in Looker Studio with revenue by landing page from GA4, Search Console clicks by category and indexation health. We move effort to where revenue is growing.

WooCommerce SEO issues we fix most often

The technical patterns behind most lost rankings in WooCommerce, and how we handle them at theme and plugin level.

Product variations competing with the parent product

Variable products with separate variation URLs (?attribute_pa_color=blue) or variation permalinks created by swatch plugins split signals and show inconsistent prices in search. We canonicalise variations to the parent, make sure the parent exposes a price range in Offer markup and use the variation data for Merchant Center instead of for indexing. Where a variation has its own search demand (a colour or a size that people actually look for), we build a dedicated indexable page instead.

Tag, attribute and date archives indexed by default

Product tags are the most common source of index bloat: stores with 3,000 tags and two products per tag. We audit tags by traffic and demand, keep the few that behave like real categories, merge or redirect the rest and set attribute archives to noindex unless they are part of the category strategy. Rank Math and Yoast both allow this per taxonomy, but the shop page, pagination and feeds need separate handling.

Pagination, sorting and infinite scroll

Shop and category pagination (/page/2/) should stay indexable and self-canonical so deep products get crawled. Sorting parameters (?orderby=price) and per-page settings should not. Infinite scroll and “load more” buttons in many themes hide products from Googlebot entirely; we add paginated fallback links so the full catalogue is reachable.

Slow product pages and poor Core Web Vitals

Typical causes: shared hosting, no object cache, render-blocking scripts from plugins loaded on every page, unoptimised hero images and heavy page builders. We measure with CrUX and PageSpeed Insights, then fix in order of impact: hosting and PHP version, caching (page, object, CDN), image formats and dimensions, conditional script loading, and finally the theme itself. Most stores reach green Core Web Vitals on product and category templates within the first quarter.

Migrations and replatforming

Moving from Shopify, Magento or PrestaShop to WooCommerce, changing permalink structures or switching themes are the moments when stores lose 30 to 60 percent of organic traffic. We prepare URL maps, redirects, template parity checks and a post-launch monitoring plan. The same applies in the other direction when you outgrow WooCommerce; see our ecommerce SEO services.

Visibility in ChatGPT, Gemini and AI Overviews

Shoppers increasingly ask AI assistants which product to buy. Those systems rely on clean product data, consistent entity information, structured FAQ content and third-party mentions. Our WooCommerce work includes structured data, comparison and buying-guide content and brand citations so your store is the one being recommended. Read more about AI SEO.

WooCommerce SEO services: frequently asked questions

Answers to the questions store owners ask us before working together. For other platforms see our ecommerce SEO hub.

Is WooCommerce good for SEO?

Yes, when it is configured properly. WooCommerce runs on WordPress, so you control URLs, templates, schema and server setup, which is more than Shopify or BigCommerce allow. The flip side is that defaults are permissive: tags, attributes and parameters get indexed and plugins slow pages down. A WooCommerce SEO specialist turns that flexibility into an advantage.

How much do WooCommerce SEO services cost?

We quote after the free audit, because the price depends on catalogue size, number of markets and how much technical work your store needs. Starter engagements for small stores are smaller in scope than Enterprise programmes for multilingual catalogues. There is no 12-month contract.

Rank Math or Yoast for WooCommerce?

Both work. Rank Math includes Product schema and per-taxonomy indexation controls in the free version; Yoast needs the WooCommerce SEO add-on for comparable features. What matters more is configuration: title templates, noindex rules for tags and attributes, breadcrumbs and sitemap settings. We configure either and extend the schema at code level where needed.

Do you implement changes or just send recommendations?

We implement. Adrian and the team have developer-level WordPress and WooCommerce experience, so technical fixes are built in child themes or a custom plugin, tested on staging and deployed with your team. You are never left with a 60-page PDF and no one to execute it.

How long does WooCommerce SEO take to show results?

Technical fixes (indexation, speed, schema) usually show within 4 to 8 weeks as Google recrawls the store. Category rankings and revenue growth typically build over 3 to 6 months; competitive national terms can take 6 to 12. Monthly reports show progress in clicks and revenue, not just positions.

Do you work with WooCommerce stores outside Poland?

Most of our WooCommerce clients are in the US, UK, Germany and the Nordics. We work remotely in English, German, Spanish, French and Polish, and we handle multilingual and multi-currency setups on WPML and Polylang as standard.

Ready to grow your WooCommerce store's organic revenue?

Send us your store URL. We will crawl it, review the WordPress stack and come back with the three biggest opportunities and a 90-day plan, free of charge.

A team of experienced WooCommerce SEO specialists led by Adrian Dąbrowiecki, no lock-in. If we are not the right fit, you still keep the audit.
