Shopify SEO Agency for Stores That Want Revenue, Not Just Rankings

Looking for a Shopify SEO agency that actually understands the platform? We fix the things Shopify gets wrong by default (duplicate collection URLs, tag pages, bloated themes, locked robots and sitemaps) and build the collection, product and content strategy that turns organic search and AI answers into orders. We focus on international expansion: we help SaaS, B2B and e-commerce companies win the US, UK and European markets with Shopify SEO. A team of experienced specialists led by Adrian Dąbrowiecki, no 12-month lock-in, and a free audit with a 90-day plan to start.

Shopify SEO for ChatGPT shopping

ChatGPT builds shopping answers from product feeds, structured data and reviews. We make your Shopify data the one it trusts, shows first and cites.

Why Shopify stores need a Shopify SEO specialist, not a generic agency

Shopify is the easiest platform to launch on and one of the easiest to get SEO wrong on. Most of the damage is invisible in the admin: it lives in Liquid templates, app scripts and URL patterns the platform generates for you.

We know what Shopify will and won't let you change

You cannot edit robots.txt freely, rewrite URL folders like /collections/ and /products/, or control the sitemap. A Shopify SEO expert works around these limits with canonicals, robots.txt.liquid, template logic and navigation instead of promising fixes that are impossible on the platform.

Revenue reporting, not ranking screenshots

We report by collection and product: organic sessions, add-to-carts, orders and revenue in GA4 and Shopify Analytics, with Search Console on top. You see which collections pay for the retainer and which still need work.

Theme speed without a rebuild

Many Shopify stores fail Core Web Vitals because of 20+ apps injecting scripts, unoptimised hero images and heavy Liquid loops. We audit app bloat, defer third-party scripts, fix LCP and CLS in the theme and keep the store on Online Store 2.0 best practice.

Experienced specialists, direct line to the strategist

You work with Adrian Dąbrowiecki and our team of experienced specialists, not an account manager relaying tasks. Theme changes go through a theme duplicate and are tested before publishing.

Visibility in ChatGPT, Gemini and AI Overviews

Shoppers increasingly ask AI assistants for product recommendations. We structure product data, comparison content and merchant feeds so your products are cited when buyers ask “best X for Y”, not just when they type it into Google.

No 12-month lock-in

Monthly retainers with 30-day notice. We earn renewal with results, and the first audit and 90-day plan are free regardless of whether we work together.

What our Shopify SEO services include

Everything a Shopify store needs to rank and convert, from a one-off technical cleanup to a full-scale content and authority programme. Scope is tailored to your catalogue size and markets.

01

Technical Shopify SEO audit

A line-by-line review of your theme, URL structure, canonicals, collection and tag pages, variants, pagination, robots.txt.liquid, sitemap, structured data and Core Web Vitals. You get a prioritised fix list with Liquid-level instructions, not generic advice.

02

Collection & site architecture

We design the collection hierarchy around how customers search (category, use case, material, brand), set up collection-level content and internal linking, and decide which filter and tag pages deserve to be indexed and which should be noindexed or canonicalised.

03

Product page optimisation

Unique titles, descriptions and copy for products and variants, Product/Offer/AggregateRating schema, image alt text and file names, review integration and FAQ blocks. Variant handling that avoids thin duplicate URLs with ?variant= parameters.

04

Content & Shopify blog strategy

Buying guides, comparisons and how-to content built on Shopify’s blog, with a structure that works around its limitations (no categories, limited taxonomy) and links back to the collections that convert. Written for buyers and AI answers alike.

05

Link building & digital PR for brands

Product-led digital PR, gift guides, expert commentary and partnerships that earn links from media and niche publications in your market. No PBNs, no paid link schemes that put a Shopify store at risk.

06

Shopify migration & international SEO

Replatforming to Shopify from WooCommerce, Magento or a custom store without losing rankings: URL mapping, redirects, content parity and monitoring. Plus Shopify Markets setup with correct hreflang, subfolder vs. domain strategy and localised content.

How we run a Shopify SEO campaign

Six stages we repeat for every store. The first two are free: you receive the audit and the 90-day plan whether or not you decide to work with us.

01

Free Shopify SEO audit

We crawl the store, review the theme and apps, check Search Console and GA4, and benchmark against three competitors. Output: the issues costing you traffic today and the three biggest opportunities.

02

Strategy and 90-day plan

Keyword and intent mapping for collections, products and content, prioritised by revenue potential. A clear sequence: technical fixes first, then collection and product work, then content and links.

03

Technical implementation

Fixes applied in a duplicated theme: canonical logic, tag page handling, robots.txt.liquid rules, schema in Liquid, speed optimisation and app cleanup. Reviewed, tested, then published.

04

Collections, products and content

Rewritten collection copy, optimised product templates, new landing collections for high-intent searches and a blog calendar that supports them. Every page with a clear path to add-to-cart.

05

Authority and AI visibility

Digital PR and link acquisition in your market, structured data and feed quality for Google Merchant Center, plus content formats that AI assistants cite when recommending products.

06

Measurement and iteration

Monthly report in Looker Studio with GA4, Shopify and Search Console data: collections, products, revenue and AI mentions. A monthly call to decide what we double down on next.

Shopify SEO issues we fix in almost every store

The platform-specific problems a generic SEO agency tends to miss, and how we handle them.

Duplicate product URLs from collections

Shopify creates a product URL for every collection a product belongs to (/collections/linen/products/duvet-cover) in addition to the canonical /products/duvet-cover. The default theme sets a canonical, but many custom themes and apps break it, and internal links still point to the collection version, diluting signals. We fix the canonical logic in Liquid, make internal links and breadcrumbs use the canonical URL and verify the result in Search Console’s page indexing report.

Collections vs. tags

Tag pages (/collections/all/red) multiply indexable URLs with little unique content. Depending on the store we either noindex them via the theme, canonicalise them to the parent collection, or in rare cases turn high-demand filter combinations into proper collections with their own copy and metadata. Deciding which is a keyword demand question, not a template default.

Product variants

Variant URLs with ?variant= parameters, colour-specific products created as separate items, and bundles all create near-duplicates. We define one rule per store: canonical to the parent product, consolidate where variants are the same intent, split into separate products only where search demand differs (for example, by size class or material).

Theme speed, Liquid and app bloat

Core Web Vitals on Shopify are mostly an app problem. Each installed app can inject JavaScript on every page, even after uninstalling if leftover snippets remain in the theme. We remove dead code, lazy-load non-critical scripts, compress and size images correctly, reduce Liquid loops in collection templates and confirm improvements in CrUX data rather than lab scores alone.

Robots.txt, sitemaps and crawl control

Shopify auto-generates the sitemap and robots.txt. You cannot remove URLs from the sitemap directly, but you can shape crawling with robots.txt.liquid, noindex rules in templates and clean internal linking. We use these to keep Googlebot focused on collections and products instead of search result pages, cart URLs and tag combinations.

Blog limitations

Shopify’s blog has no categories, limited taxonomy and a URL structure (/blogs/news/post) you cannot fully control. We work around it with multiple blogs where it makes sense, strong internal linking from articles to collections and metafield-driven templates for guides and comparison pages. Content on Shopify can rank very well; it just needs structure the platform does not provide out of the box.

International stores: Shopify Markets and hreflang

Shopify Markets lets you sell in multiple countries with subfolders (/en-gb/, /de/) or separate domains. We choose the model based on your markets and budget, make sure hreflang tags are correct for every market and language, localise collection and product content instead of relying on auto-translation alone, and align pricing and shipping so Google shows the right version to the right shopper. Our international SEO team covers the US, UK, Ireland, Australia, Canada and most of Western Europe.

Structured data: Product, Offer and Review

Rich results with price, availability and star ratings raise click-through rate on product queries. Many themes and review apps output incomplete or conflicting JSON-LD. We audit the schema per template, consolidate it into a single valid Product entity with Offer, AggregateRating and Review, and add Organization, BreadcrumbList and FAQ where relevant. The same data makes your products easier for AI assistants to understand and cite.

Migrating to Shopify without losing rankings

Replatforming from WooCommerce, Magento, PrestaShop or a custom store to Shopify changes every URL. We map old to new URLs (including category to collection, filter and blog pages), set up Shopify’s redirect manager, preserve titles, descriptions, content and schema, and monitor indexing and traffic daily for the first weeks. Done right, a migration is an opportunity to clean up years of technical debt; done wrong, it costs 30 to 50 percent of organic revenue.

Shopify Plus stores

Plus unlocks checkout customisation, Shopify Functions, higher API limits and multiple expansion stores. For SEO it means we can automate metadata at scale with metafields and Flow, handle B2B and D2C on separate stores or markets, and run larger catalogues without template compromises. We have worked on enterprise e-commerce SEO (see our Aldi case study) and apply the same discipline to Plus stores.

Apps worth using, and apps to avoid

A short list of apps genuinely helps: a reputable reviews app with valid schema, an image compression app, a redirect manager for migrations and a schema or SEO manager if your theme lacks control. What hurts: multiple apps doing the same job, apps that inject global scripts for a single widget, and “all-in-one SEO” apps that rewrite tags automatically and create duplicate schema. Fewer, better apps is usually the fastest speed win available.

What you get each month, and when results appear

Transparent deliverables and a realistic timeline. Shopify stores with a clean technical base move faster; stores with years of app and template debt need a longer cleanup phase first.

Shopify SEO services: frequently asked questions

The questions Shopify merchants ask us most often before starting. More about our approach on the ecommerce SEO services page.

Is Shopify good for SEO?

Yes, with caveats. Shopify handles the basics well (fast hosting, SSL, mobile themes, automatic sitemaps) but imposes limits: fixed URL folders, a locked robots.txt (editable only via robots.txt.liquid), duplicate collection product URLs and a basic blog. A Shopify SEO expert works within these constraints; none of them prevent a store from ranking at the top of its category.

How much do Shopify SEO services cost?

We quote per store after the free audit, because a 300-product single-market store and a 20,000-SKU Shopify Plus brand across six markets need very different work. Expect a monthly retainer sized to your catalogue and competition, with no 12-month lock-in. One-off projects such as migrations and technical cleanups are priced separately.

How long does Shopify SEO take to show results?

Technical fixes typically show in Search Console within 4 to 8 weeks. Measurable organic revenue growth usually arrives in months 3 to 5, and content and link building compound from month 6 onward. Stores with existing authority move faster than brand-new domains.

Do I need a Shopify SEO app?

Usually fewer than you think. A reviews app with valid schema and an image optimiser are helpful; most other SEO tasks (titles, canonicals, schema, redirects) are better handled directly in the theme and the Shopify admin. Stacking SEO apps often creates duplicate schema and slows the store down.

Can you migrate my store to Shopify without losing traffic?

Yes. We plan the migration before launch: full URL mapping, 301 redirects, content and metadata parity, schema and internal link checks, then daily monitoring after go-live. Stores we migrate typically keep their rankings and gain from the cleaner architecture, instead of suffering the traffic drop that unplanned replatforming causes.

Do you work with Shopify Plus and international stores?

Yes. We set up and optimise Shopify Markets, hreflang, subfolder vs. domain strategies and localised content for stores selling across the US, UK, Ireland, Australia, Canada and Europe, and we handle Plus-specific needs such as metafield automation, expansion stores and B2B catalogues.

Ready to grow your Shopify store's organic revenue?

Over 4.5 million live stores run on Shopify. Most compete on ads and discounts; very few have the technical and content foundation to win organic search and AI recommendations in their category.

Send us your store URL. We will reply with a Shopify SEO audit, the three biggest opportunities we found and a 90-day plan, whether or not we end up working together.
